The Extension Program in Commercial Fisheries and Aquaculture has changed its focus many times since its inception in 1978, addressing important issues as they have surfaced. Over the years the agent has worked on marine weather forecasting, oceanographic charts for offshore large pelagic fishing, small scale closed system aquaculture for finfish, seafood marketing, safety training for commercial vessel operators, hard clam and oyster aquaculture, the culture of ornamental aquatic plants for backyard water gardens, seafood safety, shellfish aquaculture industry organization and collaboration, and most recently the initiation of the Barnegat Bay Shellfish Restoration Program. He has published numerous fact sheets which are available on the Rutgers NJAES Cooperative Extension (RCE) website.
